Extension of Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Hall and new Porsche Arena in Stuttgart
When it was opened in September 1983 the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Hall became a landmark in Stuttgart. Having an audience capacity of up to 13,000 people, it was one of the largest performance halls in Germany at the time.
In view of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, its seating capacity was increased to approx. 15,500 within 11 months only. The extension work was largely carried out while the Hall was in operation. The additional 90,000 m³/h required to air-condition the extended building are delivered by swivel jet nozzles and twist nozzles of type DW-V2 with motorized adjusting device. Combining the long throw of the swivel jet nozzle and the short throw of the twist nozzle ensures optimum, draught-free ventilation of the new stands.
The existing Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Hall has been recently completed by the Porsche Arena, built adjacent to it. This multipurpose arena has been designed to meet the special requirements of fast sports such as handball, basketball or ice hockey. It was erected within 14 months only and provides seating for up to 7,500 spectators. It is air-conditioned via swivel jet nozzles that are placed above the tiers. Here too, optimum ventilation – matching the prevailing load – has been achieved by adapting the nozzle throws to the space requirements. At its ends the arena has been additionally fitted with adjustable radial outlets for ventilating the upper tiers located directly below the roof.
This suite of performance halls, which was inaugurated on 27 May 2006, is unique in Europe. It fits perfectly in the row of first-class performance and recreation facilities located in the Neckar Park to which it gives a distinctive touch.
For these two buildings KRANTZ KOMPONENTEN supplied 292 swivel jet nozzles of type DW-V2 139 twist nozzles of type DW-V2-...-DR
