Olympiastadion Berlin, a new crowd-puller
Aachen/Berlin: After 4 years of renovation work the reopening of 'Olympiastadion Berlin', one of the most popular landmarks of Berlin City, was celebrated at the end of July 2004.
The neoclassical structure with columns and arches conceals one of the most modern multipurpose arenas in Europe.
The inside of the historic stadium has been completely modified and rebuilt using state-of-the-art technology. A striking novelty is the roofing for the stands: the fine steel structure with the translucent membrane rests on slim posts and looks as if it was floating in the air. It protects 76,000 seats from rain or sun.
The stadium now includes about 100 luxury VIP lounges inclusive of skyboxes, yet the Coubertin lounge and the Hall of Honour are still the noblest spaces. Through the panoramic windows you can enjoy a wonderful view of the whole arena.
For the stadium's renovation KRANTZ KOMPONENTEN has supplied a total of 400 linear whirl outlets that have been installed in wall coverings, close to the room ceilings. These outlets fit well in the architecture of the different spaces.
