DeutschlandRadio has been broadcasting from Cologne and Berlin for ten years. When Germany was reunited, the local radio stations "RIAS", "Deutschlandfunk" and "Deutschlandsender Kultur" were combined to form this national broadcasting service funded by the 16 federal states as well as by the TV stations "ARD" and "ZDF".
The existing building was renovated and modernized from mid-2002 to mid-2004. For the HVAC systems, a number of products from various manufacturers were tested in the building, with the result that preference was given to combijet parapet units of KRANTZ KOMPONENTEN.
These units were installed in newly built parapet casings positioned underneath the all-side glazing of the numerous storeys of the high-rise building.
The modernization of the equipment for treating the primary air and supplying hot and cold water and the installation of the combijet parapet units were carried out storey by storey while the broadcasting activities were performed as usual.
A total of 936 combijet parapet units have been installed at DeutschlandRadio, Cologne.
